Wirgo had a considerable loyal audience, who relied on their transportation services for a while. They wanted to offer their already-existing client base an easy-to-use digital platform, where they could continue to benefit from their transportation services.


Our Solution


With our partners vision in mind, and with the knowledge we already had about car-sharing apps, we designed an intuitive, friendly, bilingual mobile app.
The Web-based Dashboard
The web-based dashboard is the platform where all the information is gathered: passengers’ profiles, drivers’ profiles, routes, trips and all the admin functions.
Here, the admin can approve drivers to join the platform, see analytics with searched routes, and block and unblock penalised drivers.
This platform is solely used for admin processes like controling of the data shown on the mobile app for both drivers and passengers.


The Driver’s Profile


After drivers go through the validation process on the admin platform, they can fill in their public profile. Here they can include a profile picture, name, age, driver’s licence, reviews and information about the car they are driving: picture, plate number, colour, brand, etc.

Furthermore, when a trip is available, they can fill in more details like:
Date
Route (picked based on the Google Maps suggestions)
Number of seats available
If pets are allowed
If smoking is allowed
Extra room available for large luggage
The app automatically gives an estimated price based on an algorithm, but the driver can update the price up to twice the base fare set up by the admin.
On the dashboard section, drivers can see the status of their trips; while under the “my trips” section the currently available trips will be displayed, with all the information needed (services and how many passengers booked the trip).

Drivers are also encouraged not to cancel trips when they already have at least one passenger booked. This will bring one penalty point for the drivers. Three penalty points will suspend the driver’s profile.
Based on an evaluation process, drivers’ profiles can be restored by the admin.


Passengers Profile


The passenger profile is built to mirror the driver’s profile: they both have the same profile sections, but with different information.
A passenger can search for routes, find those already existing on the platform, pick a driver and leave reviews.

They can contact the driver, through the chat section and set up further details about setting the pickup spot, for example.
Based on their needs (travelling with pets, having large luggage), passengers can pick a driver that offers all the extra services they need. Furthermore, they can leave comments if during the trip they’ll need to make a stop.
Passengers, similar to drivers, can easily sign in using either their Facebook, as a quick alternative to setting up an account.

The dashboard is friendly and easy to use: it shows future and past trips in an appealing UI.


Results


Wirgo represents the organic transition towards digital solutions: from an online gathering, which grew increasingly, to an appealing, intuitive mobile app that serves customers across borders.
